Kate Reynolds is a Baltimore-based violist, devoted to both performance and teaching. Shaped by the guidance of her own mentors, she discovered a passion for music education that continues to guide her artistry and pedagogy today. 

As an active performer in the DMV area, Kate plays with the Annapolis Symphony, Old Bay New Music Ensemble, Mount Vernon Virtuosi, and Musica Viva of Southwest Virginia. This past summer, she was a fellow at the Aspen Summer Music Festival, performing with the Conducting Academy Orchestra. Other festival experiences include the Chautauqua Instrumental Program, Interlochen Arts Camp, Arianna Chamber Music Festival, Rocky Ridge Music Center, and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.

During her undergraduate studies, Kate received honorable mention in the Vanderbilt University Concerto Competition, performing Paul Hindemith’s Viola Concerto Der Schwanendreher. She has also recently performed in masterclasses for Brian Chen, Edgar Meyer, and Marc Vanscheeuwijck. 

Kate is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where she studies with Victoria Chiang. She earned her Bachelor of Music at Vanderbilt University under the guidance of Carolyn Huebl and Christina McGann. Other important music mentors in her life include Kathryn Plummer, Lynne Ramsey, Choong-Jin Chang, and Joo Kim. 

Outside of music, Kate enjoys thrifting, hosting friends, and spending time outdoors. She is also active on Instagram (@katereynolds.music) sharing her musical journey as a young artist.
